Tuğras, the official signatures of the Ottoman sultans, live on in another dimension in the ceramics of artist and academic Zehra Çobanlı.
Çobanlı removes the tuğras, traditional symbols of the sovereignty of the Ottomans and of Turkish national values, from their traditional use and gives them new life through her own designs in her ceramics, in which she masterfully incorporates the aesthetics of calligraphy and unique shades of blue. She develops and changes the signatures with modern lines and creates her own art and style on her ceramic plates and vases. "
