london • European Union member states are concerned about Turkey’s slow pace as they review Ankara’s long-term prospects for joining the expanding bloc, the head of the European Commission said yesterday.
“We cannot expect Turkey to become a member in less than 15 to 20 years,” European Commission President Jose Manuel Durrao Barroso told BBC television during a visit to London, a year after Turkey began EU membership negotiations."
