"Sarkozy calls for suspension of Turkey's EU talks

French Interior Minister Nicholas Sarkozy yesterday called for the suspension of Turkey's membership talks with the European Union unless Ankara changes its stance on Cyprus.
Sarkozy, a front-runner for next year's French presidential election, called for a break in accession talks while Ankara continues to insist on not opening up its seaports and airports to Greek Cyprus while sanctions imposed on the Turkish Cypriots remain in place. "
