ANKARA, Turkey - Is Turkey shifting its foreign policy focus from the European Union toward the Middle East?
The recent visit by King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia is a development many see as an example of that possibility.
Such a shift would have strategic implications for Washington, which views Turkey as a bridge to the Muslim world, a partner in the war on terrorism, and a model for how Western democratic values can coincide with Islam."
