Britain's new Foreign Secretary Margaret Beckett on Monday pledged London's backing to keep Turkey's accession negotiations with the European Union on track despite a rift between Ankara and Brussels over Cyprus.
Beckett said Britain and a number of other EU nations would do whatever they can to avoid a crisis."
