"Sümela Monastery awaits visitors as 40-year restoration wraps up

The restoration of Trabzon's Sümela Monastery, dubbed "Meryem Ana" (Virgin Mary) by the locals, has been completed after 40 years of work.
Trabzon Provincial Culture and Tourism director Öncel Koç told the Anatolia news agency that the monastery, perched on a steep cliff facing the Altındere Valley, was among the major tourist attractions in Turkey. "
