Recently I had an opportunity to visit the public archives office, where I read a series of correspondences between the first British Governor of Cyprus Garnet Wolseley and the Marquis of Salisbury the Foreign Secretary. The documents vividly recount life in Cyprus during the transition from Ottoman to Turkish rule in 1878 following the Anglo-Turkish Convention."
