Many Turkish, Moroccan Women Never Had Any Education

"Many Turkish, Moroccan Women Never Had Any Education

THE HAGUE, 07/03/06 - Two-thirds of the Turkish and Moroccan women in the Netherlands aged between 15 and 64 have never been to school or do not have more than primary school education. Surinamese and Antillean women have a better score, research by the Social and Cultural Planning Bureau (SCP) shows.

The Turkish and Moroccan women who have never been to school are primarily 'imported' marriage partners and women from the first generation of immigrants. But younger women are at a disadvantage, too. 'Of the Turkish and Moroccan women aged up to 35, only a third have a start qualification' (the minimum basic level considered necessary to have a chance of getting a job)."
