With its unique character of being a mosaic of different cultures and civilizations, Istanbul deserves to become the European capital of culture for the year 2010, Egemen Bağış, head of the advisory board of the Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture (ECOC) Initiative, said yesterday."
