As the elections for the Representatives Assembly on May 21 in southern Cyprus get closer, Tassos Papadopoulos has upped his tempo. He held meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Jan. 23, with Austrian Prime Minister Wolfgang Schuessel in Vienna on Feb. 21 and United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan in Paris on Feb. 28. On Feb 24, EU permanent representatives approved the assistance regulations in a minimized form -- just the way Republic of Cyprus wanted. The EU foreign ministers approved the regulations last Monday."
