"Writers in Prison Conference gathers in Istanbul

CASCFEN, Baku, 06.03.2006 -- The annual conference of the 'Writers in Prison Committee,' one of the most active committees of International P.E.N., was held in Istanbul on March 2-4 (Turkish Daily News).
Fifty foreign writers from 26 International P.E.N. centers and 23 Turkish writers attended the conference where the problems of freedom of expression were discussed. On the last day of the conference a panel discussion was held at Armada Hotel with the participation of Vedat Türkali, Elif Shafak and Murathan Mungan. The topic of the meeting was 'Literature and Freedom of Expression.'"
