"EU’s Rehn says Turkey can be a member in 15 years
Both European Union Commissioner for Enlargement Olli Rehn and Turkey's chief EU negotiator Ali Babacan yesterday hinted that Turkey's negotiations might take a shorter time than expected, in a move to encourage Ankara to speed up efforts to join the 25-nation bloc earlier.
'Turkey will be ready for EU membership within 10 or 15 years,' Rehn said on Thursday during his talks with reporters in Austria.
Previous statements had put those time spans on the lower end of the expected accession process."
