"Cypriots pouring millions into casinos around the world

FIGURES from credit card clearing agency JCC show that Cypriots are huge spenders in casinos across the world, with the biggest recipients being the UK and Turkey (through the occupied areas).
According to the research, which was conducted by JCC, Cypriots last year spent a total of £11,663,368 on credit cards alone at casinos across the world.
Because the occupied north is not a recognised state, credit card transactions there show up with a Turkish code, but with casinos banned in Turkey, Cypriot casino spending can easily be traced to the north.
Between October 1, 2004 and November 24, 2005, Cypriots spent a total of £1,342,949 in the north in a total of 9,367 transactions in casinos. Those figures do not include cash gambling at casinos. "
