There are some events in life that remind you of realities you would prefer not to recall. You can't escape these realities, though, even if you are amazed when reminded of them, as if you were facing them for the first time. Bird flu is one of these events. It reminded us of how far behind the Southeast has lagged. Ankara has shown the full extent of the loutishness of its perspective on this region. "
