"Self-destructive revenge

Londoners must be wondering what hit them and irreversibly changed their lives when they were going about their business on the regular working day of Thursday, July 7. I am sure political scientists and sundry social science scholars will produce dozens of explanations as to why four young men chose to become indiscriminant murderers of their fellow citizens. They will talk about globalization and the discontent it engenders; the imbalance of opportunities; the callousness of the West towards other parts of the world that try to get even in desperation; the siege mentality and feeling of defeat among certain ethnic and religious groups; the involvement of Britain in wars across continents and the resolve of the victims or their mental-spiritual kin to avenge their suffering; or simply the feelings of those who feel fundamental animosity against a legal-cultural-political system that they feel alien from and which contradicts their own world views."
