"Turkey set to extend customs union to Cyprus

Turkey EUTurkey said on Tuesday it expected to sign within 'a week or 10 days' a protocol extending its European customs union to Cyprus, which is essential for starting accession talks with the EU on October 3.
The signing has been delayed by a combination of the recent cooling of European Union enthusiasm for Turkey to join and claims from the Turkish government's opponents it would mark a 'sellout' on Cyprus."
