Turkey's exports totaled $64 billion in 2004, a two-fold increase over 2002 export numbers. The role of textile and apparel exports, which formed more than a quarter of total exports in 2004, has been instrumental to this increase. Given this fact, one would expect nothing but optimistic forecasts regarding Turkey's global competitiveness, especially in the textile and apparels sector. "
