Erdogan’s gains come as surprise for many Turks

My friends and I spent the whole of Sunday watching television and checking websites as Turks voted in the municipal elections. Many people kept vigil at polling stations to report any irregularity. We saw how so many people wanted to see Mr Erdogan and the AKP defeated.
