Is the rise and rise of Turkey’s Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan finally coming to an end? In power for a decade, he has driven his AKP, Justice and Development Party, to repeated victories. He has subdued his country’s traditional power base, the Army burnished by the image of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. Turkey’s economy has been performing splendidly until recently, creating an entire new middle class in the crucible of Anatolia.
