TURKEY, REMARKABLE RISE IN FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EXPORTS
Turkish vegetable export has grown a lot in the past years, from 628 million kilos in 2006 to 958 million kilos in 2010. Around half of the export consists of tomatoes, with cucumber and onion in second and third place.

The production of vegetables in Turkey shows an upward trend, with tomatoes being the main product. The production of fruit (+25%) has increased more than the vegetable production, as reported by Freshplaza.com.
Fruit and vegetables exports have increased greatly, while impors of vegetables in Turkey is limited. The import of fruit is larger, with bananas being the main product.
