Major crowd pullers at 16th IFFK
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Every year, some movies will unexpectedly turn out to be the crowd pullers in the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK).
The 16th edition of the festival was no different. And the major crowd puller this season was ‘Body (Vucut)’- the movie from Turkey directed by Mustafa Nuri. All the three screenings of the movie held at Kairali, New Theatre and Sree Visakh were jam-packed. Not only for the element of sensuality in the movie, but it was also appreciated as a bold attempt. With the life of porn star at the centre, the film explores the relationship between individual and society within the lines of concepts such as beauty and body. ‘The Painting Lesson’, another competition movie was also well received and attracted a huge crowd to the theatres. There were three screenings for this movie from Chile directed by Pablo Perelman. The film narrates the tale of a child gifted with a talent for painting. However, the cvil war takes a toll on his life and dreams. With the festival authorities arranging advance booking this time, the balcony seats for both ‘Body’ and ‘The Painting Lesson’ were fully reserved two days before the screening.
