"USAK Conference on 'Turkey's Role in European Energy Security' was Convened
The Energy Platform Conference of 2010 is co-organized by USAK and Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, titled as 'Turkey's Role In European Energy Security' which is sponsored by BP, TRT, Hurriyet Daily News and Haber Turk. The conference was taken place at the USAK House Conference Hall.
The conference is organized in three sessions and the first session has adjourned on emphasis on developing a cooperative relationship between Europe and Turkey . The opening remarks were conducted by Jan Senkyr the representative of Konrad-Adenaeur Stiftung, Dr. Sedat Laciner the Coordinator of USAK and Yusuf Yazar the Undersecretary Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey.
In the first session of the energy security, the role of energy diversification and Turkey's role in the region was discussed. Yazar stated, the main attempts of the energy supply security are focused to diversify and supply resources. In this context, it is important to cooperate with Qatar. As a consequence, Europe's transfer of the natural gas through Nabucco project drew attention. At the same time Turkey is planning to build a nuclear plant in Sinop, Mersin to strengthen the nuclear power plants. Yazar stated, the aims is to increase the power of Turkey in accordance with the corridors in the region andto continue implementing such underlined projects."
