"Turkey's Dogan Yayin: Court rules in its favour over assets
Orhan Coskun in Ankara - 08.02.2010
Leading Turkish media group Dogan Yayin has won a legal block on the seizure of its assets, in a further boost for its tax dispute with the government.
The company, which controls a large chunk of Turkey's private media, has been locked in a dispute with Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan's Islamist-rooted government over a series of tax fines.
The Council of State verdict further helped sentiment towards Dogan after management said a tax court ruled in its favour over the payment of 772.5 million lira ($509 million) in dues and penalties related to a stake sale by its Dogan TV unit to Axel Springer."
