"Turkey urged to end Cyprus standoff to advance EU accession bid
Turkey must ease constraints on civil liberties and end a more than three-decade standoff on Cyprus to advance its bid for European Union membership, EU lawmakers said on Wednesday.
Noting that “progress in terms of concrete reforms remained limited in 2009,” the Parliament passed a resolution in Strasbourg, France, on Wednesday that urged Turkey to “translate its political initiatives into concrete amendments.”"
