WILD fires have swept across Didim, Akköy and Akbük this week destroying thousands of acres of woodland in their wake.
A fire in Akköy destroyed olive trees and saplings when at about 7pm on Wednesday (July 15). The fire grew rapidly due to strong winds and covered almost all the land, scaring the villagers and threatening the buildings."
