ANKARA, Turkey — In a July 24 story about the mosaic face of an angel at the former Byzantine cathedral of Haghia Sophia in Istanbul, The Associated Press reported erroneously that the Haghia Sophia was built in 537 B.C. It was completed in 537 A.D., not B.C., according to the Haghia Sophia museum and Turkey's Culture and Tourism Ministry.
The AP story also referred to Haghia Sophia as 'Church of Holy Wisdom,' but it should be 'Church of the Holy Wisdom.'"
