"Turkish halloumi requests rejected
By Marcos Charalambides

THE HALLOUMI registration saga has overcome a new hurdle, with the Supreme Court rejecting a Turkish Cypriot application to suspend Cyprus’ application to register the product in the EU.

Judge Rallis Gabrielides on Thursday rejected the requests of Turkish dairy producers KOOP-SUT that the Court should issue a temporary order calling for the government’s application to register halloumi as a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) not to be sent to the European Commission until the matter is discussed and a final decision is reached by the court."
