Berlin - The German Government continues to insist on the 'immediate and unconditional' release of the three German mountaineers abducted in eastern Turkey. A spokesman of the Foreign Ministry in Berlin said that there was no new state of affairs to report. The ministry's crisis committee was 'staying on the ball permanently.' Apart from that, it was in constant and intensive contact with the Turkish authorities. Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier (Social Democratic Party) had phoned his Turkish colleague Ali Babacan to discuss the matter on Thursday [10 July] night."
