"Turkish hopes for 'a house and a car' fading

Istanbul-MilliyetConsumer Tendencies Survey conducted by the Central Bank and Turkey Statistics Institute show hopes to buy a house and a car are fading away. Percent of people who said “In the next six months either I or my family might buy a car” decreased from four percent to 3.4 in November 2007. Similarly percent of those who said “I might buy a house next year” declined from 8.9 percent to 7.8 percent.Consumer Tendencies Survey shows 20.1 percent of subjects said “Chances of finding a job will increase in the next six months”. Thirty-seven percent of participants believe chances for them to find a job is less likely.The figure drops in the expectations of purchasing power. Subjects who are optimistic to have better purchasing power stand at 36.2 against 12.8 percent."
