"Turkish Diva at The Royal Albert Hall
I was at the Royal Albert Hall last night, along with most of the Turkish community in London to watch, who the Guardian describes as the 'undisputed Queen of Turkish contemporary music ' - singer and songwriter, Sezen Aksu. She is a Turkish icon, and she was fantastic. The audience of around 4000, adoring fans, loved her. I'm guessing that most people in the UK blogosphere are saying right now, who? But to the Turks and people in the Balkans, she is known as the Turkish Madonna, and has performed worldwide to sell-out concerts. Sezen has sold over 40 million albums, including the international no.1 hit 'Simarik/ Kiss Kiss', performed by Holly Vallance in English, which some of you may recognise as The Graham Norton Show's theme song."
