"Meral Aksener and Guldal Mumcu elected deputy chairman of Turkish parliament [ 10 Aug 2007 20:14 ] The Presidium of Turkish Grand National Assembly has been formed after election of the chairman, APA’s Turkey bureau reports. Two of four deputies parliament chairman are women. According to the regulations, the majority Justice and Development Party (AKP) will have two deputies chairman, and People’s Republican Party (CHP) and Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) one each. AKP has named EyyubJanab Gurpinar and Nevzat Pakdil and CHP Guldal Mumcu and MHP Meral Aksener. They will assume office after having been confirmed in general session of parliament. Mumju is the widow of prominent journalist Ughur Mumju, who was assassinated in 1993. Aksener was interior minister when Tansu Chiller was Prime Minister.
