Dornhelm to make film about siege of Vienna

"Dornhelm to make film about siege of Vienna The Ottoman Empire army's unsuccessful second attempt to take Vienna from the Habsburg Dynasty in 1683, which resulted in the Battle of Vienna, is to be made into a movie. Romanian-born Austrian film and television director Robert Dornhelm will direct the historical picture, titled 'The Red Apple.' Producers are considering Hollywood actor Mel Gibson for the role of Count Ernst Rüdiger von Starhemberg, who was the army commander of Vienna during the siege, although the cast has yet to be determined. Dornhelm said in a written statement this week that they were still working on the script and other components of the film and that he was planning to start filming next summer. Among the producers of the project will be Germany's EOS Entertainment and Austria's MR Film."
