Istanbul, 11 June (AKI) - Italian foreign minister Massimo D’Alema's visit to Turkey on Tuesday and Wednesday has the potential according to some observers of galvanising the near-stalled membership talks between Ankara and the European Union. D'Alema's trip comes in the wake of the EU's partial suspension of the negotiations because of Turkey's refusal to open its seaports and airports to traffic from Cyprus and accusations by Ankara that the bloc has failed to honour financial and aid commitments made to Turkish Northern Cyprus."
