For anyone who has cast so much as a glance at any of the Turkish dailies in the last week, it is obvious that the latest question driving political frenzy is: what were the Turkish officials thinking when they decided to attend – and stay at – the recent Hudson Institute meeting. The questions agitating society, though, seem to go one step further, asking “why?” Why did the United States feel the need to formulate these tragic scenarios? And perhaps more importantly, why does the U.S. feel it has a place discussing the internal security matters of the Turkish nation? "
