The war of words escalated between Turkish and Kurdish leaders, amid reports of Turkish shelling across the border into northern Iraq.
Masoud Barzani, president of the Kurdish autonomous region, and leader of the Kurdish Democratic Party, one of the two major Iraqi Kurdish parties, rejected Turkish conditions for dialogue with Iraqi Kurds, on the condition that the Iraqi Kurdish authorities took measures against PKK rebels on the Iraqi side of the border."
