Turkey will export 40 million branches of flowers to European countries on Valentine's Day this year as European lovers and women preferred "Turkish flowers" thanks to the improvement in the quality and variety of the products.
Antalya Cut Flowers Exporters' Union (AKCIB) Chairman Osman Bağdatlıoğlu said that despite the drop in foreign exchange rates and increase in input costs, export of cut flowers rose 40 percent throughout November and December 2006 and January 2007 in comparison with the previous term.
"We aim to achieve a 30 percent rise on Valentine's Day this year compared to 2006. As we increased the quality and variety of the products, we expanded to world markets and started to export goods to more countries," said Bağdatlıoğlu."
