Assos, which was highly developed during the Roman period, was one of the first cities where Christianity was accepted. In the city, built on rocks, stockbreeding, fruit, wine and olive were the means of earning a living. Also, iron and silver were processed. On the eastern slope of the city, iron ore was discovered. The city derived a good income from port and customs services"
