Austrian Foreign Minister Ursula Plassnik said on Monday that the European Union should not shut out Turkey's bid for membership in the EU. �It would be wiser for us to try and reach realistic targets without closing the doors on Turkey,� she said, reported the Anatolia news agency. But Plassnik did not rule out favoring �other alternatives� for Ankara that would fall short of full membership. "
