"Karamanlis slams presence of Turkish troops on Cyprus

Greek Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis yesterday slammed the presence of Turkish troops on the island of Cyprus, saying, 'Such a presence in the 21st century is morally, politically and logically unacceptable.'

Delivering a speech at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) meeting, Karamanlis also claimed that the continuation of the Turkish Cypriots' isolation is the consequence of what he termed Turkish 'occupation.' 'Finding a solution to the continuation of the isolation is a complicated issue, since Cyprus is under occupation,' he said.
