Last week, I had the opportunity to meet a US delegation from Texas. There were high-ranking retired bureaucrats, important individuals who still wield considerable influence in local governments and sincere Christians who have not lost hope on “dialogue” yet.
The conversation finally turned to the events in the region, and of course Israel’s barbaric attacks. When it was my turn to speak, I tried to explain that we do not feel the least bit of hostility towards other religions or the faithful; our religion prohibits anti-Semitism; Islam protects the fundamental rights and freedoms of non-Muslims. The history of Islam and the Ottoman Empire are concrete evidences of these. I tried, in particular, to give simple examples from the “National System” we all know."
