"İstanbul receives lion’s share in credits

In addition to the bank deposits, Istanbul received the lion’s share in credits, too.
According to the calculation made via the Turkish Banks’ Union data, out of the credits worth YTL 129.9 bln opened by the banks inside the country as of the end of 2005, Istanbul received a 41.3 pct-share. Credits used in Istanbul totaled YTL 53.6 bln.
Out of the total credits, 12 pct were used in Ankara and 6 pct in Izmir. The share of these three provinces within the total credits was 59.3 pct. As of the end of 2005, the banks opened credits worth YTL 15.6 bln in Ankara and YTL 7.8 bln in Izmir. Following these three provinces, Kocaeli ranked fourth with a 4.8 pct-share and credits worth YTL 6.3 bln."
