The southeastern Anatolian province of Mardin, famous for its stone buildings, is getting new bus stops built of stone, reflecting the spirit of its traditional architecture.
The province, located on a natural threshold that separates the Diyarbakır basin and the Mesopotamian plain, is one of the oldest settlements in the region and is dubbed an open-air museum for its abundance of historic structures belonging to both Christianity and Islam. "
