"Can Turkey Become North Korea?
When the presidential election process had not begun in Turkey and the government was taking historical steps towards the European Union, we were all dreaming of living in a modern country with universal standards.
All the important events took place in the last six to seven months. We are witnessing bomb blasts and PKK terrorist attacks again. Gangs are rife nowadays. A new emergency law called the “Counter Terrorism Act” is about to be enacted; hence, all the democratic efforts made so far will have to be abandoned. Psychological war agents are eager to drag Turkey dozens of years behind. Surprisingly, we are now talking about gangs, bombs, Atabeyler, Sauna Gang, Semdinli etc., whereas three or five months ago we were talking about democratization, European Union (EU) and human rights. In addition to the domestic gangs, the PKK terrorist organization also plays a key role in fanning this chaotic situation. All of them are trying to make Turkey become a problematic and chaotic country. The main target is modernization and democratization because democracy will put an end to all of these vices. Former Ambassador Temel Iskit’s remarks in an interview with Nese Duzel of daily Radikal are really thought provoking."
