For all of you wanting to keep up with the latest arts and crafts trends in Turkey, here's the scoop: �Trays are out; beads are in.� Let me explain.
For the past two years, for women with time on their hands (whether ladies of leisure or just merely the unemployed), decoupaging tea trays had been the preferred way of whiling away a weekday afternoon. These women flocked to courses where they could learn the art of cutting out cheap reproductions of flower bouquets, gluing them onto cheap MDF trays, and then giving them a finish of simulated wood grain or antique crackle. The trays were destined for appreciative nieces and daughter-in-laws, either presented by the maker or purchased from a crafts fair or bazaar or the wife of the kapıcı."
