"Turkey drops charges against MEP Lagendijk
Turkey has dropped charges against a Member of European Parliament (MEP) who allegedly insulted the country's military, Anatolia news agency reported.
An investigation was opened against Joost Lagendijk in December after he was quoted as saying that the Turkish military provoked clashes with autonomy-seeking Kurds.
Lagendijk is due to attend a trial Tuesday in Istanbul of five journalists being prosecuted under the same law, which also makes it a crime to insult Turkey, its government authorities or 'Turkishness.'"
