Recently, there has been a flood of new books on the German market, concerning the alleged plight of Turkish women in Germany. It is supposted to be a wide-spread practice in the Turkish community to buy brides in provincial Turkey and ship them to Germany, where they are not allowed contact with the non-Muslim world, never learn German, and are more or less restricted to house and family.
