"Top Turkish diplomat resigns ahead of EU talks

The diplomat responsible for co-ordinating Turkey's talks on membership of the EU has resigned after becoming frustrated at the slow pace of preparations in Ankara.
Murat Sungar handed in his resignation on Saturday (5 August) just two months before membership negotiations between the bloc and Turkey are officially scheduled to open."
