A solemn opening ceremony of the 23rd world student games was held in Izmir, Turkey, August 11. Premier of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan attended the ceremony.
The Student Games, which is considered as student Olympic Games, will bring together athletes from 130 countries. Azerbaijan representatives will be competing in free-style and Greco-Roman wrestling, taekwondo, athletics, archery, fencing and rhythmic gymnastics.
The Student Games will last ten days."
