Turks, a proud people who totally believe that their national drink, raki, is superior to any other alcoholic beverage, were stunned last week when two distillers came out with new brands in a color nobody thought it would ever be offered in -- yellow.
Raki, a clear, powerful drink -- usually 45 percent proof -- changes its color to milky white when water is added due to its aniseed content, which gives it its distinctive flavor. "
