Tear Gas Suffocates Istanbul During Gezi Anniversary Protests
Turkish police closed Gezi Park on May 31 in anticipation of anniversary riots commemorating the 2013 anti-government protests which left six dead. According to reports, Prime Minister Erdogan issued a statement maintaining that police would do anything “necessary from A to Z” when referring to anticipated protests.
